Materials & Care

The Language of Matter

Every creation begins with matter — stone, fossil, shell, or metal — each carrying the memory of its origin.
We approach every element with quiet reverence: not to change its nature, but to reveal its presence.

Our materials are chosen for their character, not for perfection.
Fossil coral shaped by time, pearls formed by water, stones that hold the breath of the earth — all become part of a single language of balance and transformation.

Each piece is assembled by hand in small quantities, honoring the slow rhythm of craft.
Their subtle irregularities are marks of authenticity — the dialogue between human intention and natural intelligence.

To wear them is to feel continuity: between past and present, form and spirit, creation and care.

Care & Preservation

Every YAF KAI creation is a meeting of earth, craft, and time.
Each material responds to the world differently — some strong, some tender — all deserving of care.
With gentle attention, your piece will remain luminous and alive for years to come.

General Care

Avoid direct contact with perfume, creams, oils, or hairspray. Remove before bathing, swimming (salt or chlorinated water), or exercise. Avoid impact or friction against hard surfaces. Keep away from prolonged sunlight, heat, and humidity. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth — a ritual that restores its quiet brilliance.

Storage

Store each piece separately in its YAF KAI pouch or box. Keep in a cool, dry place away from moisture and temperature changes. For silver or brass pieces, include an anti-tarnish strip. Avoid storing in bathrooms or sealed plastic bags.

Natural Stones & Fossils

(Fossil coral, jasper, agate, quartz, tourmaline, jadeite, and similar)

Clean gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Never use ultrasonic cleaners or strong solvents. Avoid perfume, salt, and alcohol exposure. Their tonal variations, veins, and inclusions are part of their living character.

Pearls & Organic Matter

(Baroque, Keshi, Biwa, and Coin Pearls; Mother of Pearl)

Pearls love to be worn — natural oils help maintain their glow. Keep dry and wipe gently after wear. Avoid perfume, lotions, and hairspray. Store flat, wrapped in a soft cloth or pouch.

Metals & Plated Finishes

(Gold-Filled, 18k Gold Plated, Brass, Copper)

Avoid water and high humidity to preserve color and shine. Clean with a soft jewelry cloth; never polish aggressively. A natural patina may form with time — it is part of the material’s evolution and beauty.

Sterling Silver

Polish regularly with a silver-specific cloth to maintain brightness. Avoid liquid silver dips, especially when stones or pearls are present. Store separately with an anti-tarnish strip.

Leather & Cord

(Leather strands, nylon, silk, and elastic)

Avoid moisture, oils, or prolonged sunlight. Elastic cords may soften with time and can be replaced by request. To refresh leather, apply a neutral, alcohol-free lotion sparingly and wipe gently.

Wood & Bone

Natural materials that mature over time — tones deepen, textures soften. Keep dry and away from direct sunlight. Wipe occasionally with a dry cloth to remove dust. Bone may gradually acquire a honey-gold patina; this is part of its organic beauty.

Acrylic & Artistic Crystal

Clean gently with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid hot water, alcohol, or ammonia-based products. Polish only with dry microfiber — friction restores clarity.

Our Ethic

We embrace natural materials and visible individuality — variations in tone, grain, or structure are the marks of authenticity.
To care for a YAF KAI piece is to honor the living intelligence of the earth itself.
Each creation reflects our belief in quiet luxury, slow craft, and respect for the matter that shapes us.
